Agency Honors Staff During “National Visiting Nurse Association Week”
(Saco, Maine) HomeHealth – Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine will celebrate “National Visiting Nurse Association Week” from May 8 - 14 by honoring their visiting nurses and clinicians who care for more than 14,000 patients each year in Southern Maine. As part of this tribute, HomeHealth—VNSM plans a reception recognizing staff and years of service, public awareness activities about the importance of home health services and education on the critical role visiting nurses play in providing comprehensive services.
Since the early 1900s, visiting nurses in Southern Maine have helped countless young mothers and babies, tended to sick patients in their own homes, and held community clinics to address conditions ranging from polio to tuberculosis to diabetes. In keeping with this legacy, HomeHealth – Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine provided care to 14,831 patients throughout Cumberland and York Counties. Services are provided to patients of all ages, regardless of ability to pay for care.
HomeHealth—Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine is a not-for-profit home health care agency providing skilled nursing, rehabilitation, home health aides, medical social work, maternal and child health care, community health clinics and comprehensive hospice services in Cumberland and York counties. HomeHealth—Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine represents a merger of Community Health Services and Visiting Nurse Service and is a member of the MaineHealth family.
