Maine Heart Center - Cardiac Catheterization Videos
Cardiac Catheterization

Click on the links below to see videos of cardiac catheterization patients before and after the procedure. Click on 'small' if you are using dial-up connection, or click on 'medium' or 'large' if you are using DSL or broadband Internet connection.

On the first video, you will see a patient who had symptoms of angina with 95% narrowing of the right coronary artery, which supplies blood to the heart muscle. In the clip, contrast dye fills the vessel, revealing the problem area during cardiac catheterization using X-ray imaging.

On the next video you can see that the right coronary artery has been fully opened up by the placement of a drug eluting stent in the vessel. The clip demonstrates that excellent flow has been restored to this area of the heart muscle, which resolved the patient's angina symptoms.
