PORTLAND, ME, January 20, 2014 – Maine Health Access Foundation(MeHAF) recently announced grant awards to organizations that provide education, outreach or assist people in enrolling in health plans through Maine’s Health Insurance Marketplace. CarePartners, one of MaineHealth’s Access to Care programs, received $119,732 from MeHAF, which will be used for outreach and education in MaineHeath’s 11-county service area, representing 75% of Maine’s population.
“The goal of our work is to maximize the number of uninsured and low-income adults in the MaineHealth service area who are informed about the ACA [Affordable Care Act] Marketplace and receive assistance to enroll,” said Carol Zechman, Access to Care program director. “As part of our work prior to this grant award, we’ve provided training for 1,000 medical providers, public health district personnel, social service agency staff, hospital billing, care management and patient account staff.”
She adds, “MaineHealth and the community hospitals who administer our healthcare access programs are a highly trusted resource for healthcare coverage options.”
