HomeHealth Visiting Nurses (HHVN) teamed up with The Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA), Families Fighting Flu and The Clorox Company in a national campaign to help families say "Boo!" to the flu.
With grant funds from the VNAA, we developed a public awareness campaign focusing on seasonal flu prevention and encouraging families to attend our "child-friendly" vaccination clinics. Promotional activities include radio ads, flyers to schools, posters and newspaper articles in the local media. In October, we hosted a Say Boo! to the Flu clinic in our Saco office. Our Community Health staff provided education and seasonal flu vaccinations to the whole family. Children received "treats" to include water bottles, lollipops, stickers and activity books. Also, for children who may be fearful of injections, we offered FluMist-a painless, preservative-free nasal spray-to children 2 years and older.
Say Boo! to the Flu clinics were for children ages 6 months and older and as well as family members. We accepted Aetna, Anthem/Blue Cross and Medicare Part B for payment.
